The annual Gulf & South Atlantic States Shellfish Conference (GSASSC) will be held in Ocean Springs, Mississippi from April 13th to 16th, 2009. The conference is hosted by the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (MDMR), Office of Marine Fisheries.
We are in the process of putting together an agenda which will cover various topics pertaining to shellfish, please check periodically for agenda updates. The GSASSC is an opportunity for government officials, resource managers and the shellfish industry to come together to exchange ideas and discuss important issues to the shellfish community.
The GSASSC 2009 registration fee will include proceedings, breakfast and lunch. In addition to formal proceedings, there will be a unique opportunity to network with various people from different states. Our evening events will include a Monday night social and a Wednesday afternoon schooner ride on the historic Biloxi Schooners followed by a seafood dinner held at the Ocean Springs Yacht Club. The GSASSC will conclude on Thursday at 11:00 am with optional afternoon field trips to follow. We feel that these activities will allow networking with professionals of various areas of expertise. Through classroom discussion and outside networking, the information obtained during this conference will be of great value to your organization.
We sincerely hope that you will join us in making the 2009 Gulf & South Atlantic States Shellfish Conference a success. We look forward to welcoming you to Mississippi and to GSASSC 2009.
