Coastal Resources Management

Implementation of the Mississippi Coastal Program is the primary responsibility of the Office of Coastal Resources. The Mississippi Coastal Program was legislatively mandated in Section 57-15-6 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 and approved by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under the provisions of the Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) of 1972.

In addition to coastal management responsibilities, Coastal Resources Management also administers the Coastal Preserves Program, Wetlands Permitting, and other special projects.
