Legal Notice Order Extending the 2018-2019 Shrimp Season South of the Intracoastal Waterway and West of the Gulfport Ship Channel in Mississippi Territorial Waters

By virtue of the authority vested in the Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources under the provisions of 49-15-15 (1) (a) Mississippi Code of 1972 Annotated, the Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources, after biological sampling, does hereby declare and order that:

All waters south of the Intracoastal Waterway in Mississippi territorial waters are hereby declared and ordered to open at 12:01 a.m., May 1, 2019 for shrimping as provided by law and the regulations of this Commission and shrimp season shall close at 6:00 a.m., May 10, 2019.

All other Mississippi territorial waters remain closed to shrimping as provided by law and the regulations of this Commission.

All rules set forth in regulations of the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (MDMR) are to be in full force and effect and all boats engaged in catching or transporting shrimp in or from the waters of the State of Mississippi must be legally licensed.

If during routine shrimp sampling by the MDMR, there is an indication that there is a movement of large numbers of juvenile brown shrimp into this area; the shrimp season may be closed earlier than 6:00 a.m. May 10, 2019.
