No Crab Trap Cleanup in 2014

BILOXI, Miss. – Officials with the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources have announced that there will not be a crab trap cleanup scheduled this year.
The MDMR would like to thank everyone - especially our partners, Mississippi's crabbers and USM's GCRL staff - who have helped remove and recycle nearly 19,000 derelict traps since 1999.
If you are aware of any derelict (lost) traps, please report them through the MDMR website or contact Bill Richardson of the Shrimp and Crab Bureau at 228-374-5000. Remember, it is illegal to remove crab traps not licensed to you unless you have registered as a volunteer during an official MDMR cleanup.
Please continue to monitor our website at for further information.

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
